Introducing Gabrielle Harden - Forestry Extension Educator

Gabrielle Harden

Hello, my name is Gabrielle Harden and I am the new Forestry Extension Educator at USU. I grew up in Detroit, MI, where I developed a love of nature and sense of adventure that brought me to Moscow, Idaho in 2017 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Forestry at the University of Idaho. Through opportunities at the College of Natural Resources, I was able to develop my leadership, communication, and research skills that I will apply to this position. I am member of Xi Sigma Pi (the International Forestry Honor Society) and served as the President of the University of Idaho student chapter of the Society of American Foresters. I was a Student Ambassador for the College of Natural Resources and a lab assistant for the Seedling Quality Assessment Laboratory. I participated in two undergraduate research projects, one of which took me to Togo, West Africa to focus on reforestation. I graduated from the University of Idaho with Summa Cum Laude honors in May 2019.

Professionally, I have worked in Idaho as a silviculture intern with the USDA Forest Service and as a crew leader with the Clearwater Basin Youth Conservation Corps. I am passionate about reforestation and conservation, and helping others build their forest management knowledge to ensure forests are around for generations to come.
