Biography

Ben is an Extension Assistant Professor who focuses on the areas of agriculture, horticulture, and natural resources for Washington County. He specializes in the areas of water efficient landscapes (CWEL), orchard management, vegetable production, insect identification, plant identification, landscape plant selection, weed management, and range management. Community programs include: the Utah/Arizona Range Workshop, Color Country Natural Resource Camp, Learn, Sow and Grow, and Master Gardeners. In 2021 Ben was recognized as one of Washington County’s 30 in their Thirties by the Saint George Area Chamber of Commerce for his work in Washington County.

Teaching Interests

Fruit production, pruning, small farms, gardening, backyard chickens, high tunnel production, pomegranates, weed management, drip irrigation.

Research Interests

Fruit and vegetable production, rangeland improvements, water conservation, pomegranate development, cut flower production, high tunnel production, insect management.
