Wild About Utah: Native Grasses

Little bluestem grass

CWEL Director Kelly Kopp discusses the use of water-wise ornamental grasses for wildlife habitat on National Public Radio's Wild About Utah program. Grasses are important plants that provide both food and cover for birds and other wildlife. They also provide materials for nest building. A few ornamental grasses that you might consider planting in your landscape are Indian rice grass, blue grama grass, little bluestem (shown at left), Indiangrass, and Miscanthus. An audio recording is also available.
