Horse Rules

The 4-H horse program is directed at the state level by the Utah 4-H Horse Council and locally by the Weber County 4-H Office. These groups work under the direction of Utah State University Extension and operate within the policies of USU Extension and Utah 4-H. The rules for the 4-H horse program are explained in the two documents listed below. Members, parents, and leaders are responsible for knowing and following these rules. Copies are also available for purchase at the 4-H office.

These rules are reviewed each year, so make sure you have the most recent copy. Weber County 4-H Horse Council By-laws are revised each 4-H year; final revisions for the Utah 4-H Horsemanship Contest Rulebook occur during the Utah 4-H Horse Council meeting held during the Utah 4-H Leadermete Conference in March/April are are typically posted prior to May 1. The link for the rulebook below directs you to the State 4-H web page.
