You may not recognize a baby dragonfly, since they live underwater, but everyone has seen the adults zooming past on a summer’s day.
Dragonfly young (larvae) usually live in ponds or slow moving water. They use their big eyes to search for other aquatic animals, scooping them up with a mouth like a little shovel. They can also move by jet propulsion, pumping water in and out of their abdomen.
Adults are super fliers. They can twist and turn and can reach speeds of 30 miles per hour!
