Each person makes many choices every day that can help improve and protect our water. Little things help, such as:
• Take care with fertilizers and pesticides. Only use the recommended amount because
the excess ends up in our waters.
• Storm drains usually go straight to a stream or river. Never put anything down
a drain that you wouldn’t put in a fish tank.
• Conserve water – fix leaks, keep your sprinklers off pavement, and only water
lawns and gardens when they actually need the water.
• Support community efforts that protect our streams and reservoirs.
The Taking Action Page will tell you more about what you and your community can do to protect your water.
