Vernal’s Innovation Hub — A great place to start a small business

The Vernal Innovation Hub received the Rural Coworking and Innovation Center Grant (RCIC), administered by the Go Utah Center for Rural Development. In support of Small Business Week, the Center recognizes the Hub's extraordinary work to help establish new small businesses.

The Innovation Hub includes several co-working spaces, and private offices are available for new businesses to rent with various options available to meet needs and budgets. Furnished office space, high-speed internet, mail service, copy machines, and a free business license are some of the amenities that each member receives to set them on a successful path.

Rural Economic Development Incentive (REDI) – Grants for businesses

The Center for Rural Development encourages companies to become familiar with the Rural Economic Development Incentive (REDI) program. The REDI grant is available for businesses creating new high-paying jobs in rural communities. Companies may receive up to $6,000 for each new position created based on the employee’s work location. To date, $1,401,000 is currently obligated for businesses creating new high-paying jobs in rural Utah.

Recently, a company in Morgan County expanded its small business and hired three employees. Another business in Carbon County filled nine new positions and received $60,000.

REDI grant applications have come from companies located throughout rural Utah specializing in farming, maintenance and repair, publishing, health care, and more.

The REDI grant will also expand to additional counties soon

Visit Go Utah’s website to learn more about the REDI program, or contact Eden Johnson at emjohnson@utah.gov or 801-699-3204.
