    Livestock Ambassador

    4-H Program that will provide our livestock participants with an opportunity to gain leadership skills, conduct service projects, and earn College Scholarship Money. Attached you will find the application to apply to be a 4-H Livestock Ambassador. In this document you will find the criteria, responsibilities and rewards that go with this program.     Ambassador Application

    Criteria:

    • Must be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school (Current Year)
    • Must have been showing a livestock animal for 3 or more years
    • Must currently be enrolled in the 4-H Program* and have species you plan to show selected as a project. Example: If you are applying to be a Beef Livestock Ambassador you must select beef for your market project. *If you want this to count for FFA you have to keep FFA Records as well.
    • Must have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA or higher
    • Attach with Application
      • Transcript
      • Letter of Recommendation: (From Non Family Member)
      • Essay about current issue in the industry. Must be species specific. Example: If applying to be a Sheep Livestock Ambassador, you must write an essay on a current issue in the Sheep Industry. (One-page single spaced with reference page. Reference page is in addition to your one-page essay)
    • Interview with species superintendents and livestock ambassador advisor
    • Must be available to serve from March 1-September 30, 2018

     

    Responsibilities of Livestock Ambassadors:

    • 2 Tractor Supply Events  (Organize activities and recruit helpers)
    • Spring Show Workshop (Work with species superintendent and livestock ambassador advisor to plan and teach a workshop)
    • Livestock Camp  (Work with species superintendent and livestock ambassador advisor to plant and teach classes and activities at camp)
    • Assist at the County Fair with Jr. Farmer education and activities on sale day as determined
    • Organize and carry out a service project for the fair grounds
    • Join and participate in 4-H Teen Council

     

    Rewards:

    • $250 Scholarship (Received upon successful completion of Livestock Ambassador duties)
    • Scholarship to one State 4-H Event (State Contests, TLT, Winter Retreat)
    • Lagoon Ticket Scholarship to attend one day during 4-H Lagoon Week
    • Recognition at Livestock Sale and Achievement Night
    • Ambassador Jacket for Show Days
    • 2 Polo Shirts to wear at events
    • Resume/Scholarship building experience
    • End of Year Pizza Party
