Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research, University of Montana
The Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research (ITRR) was created in 1987 to conduct research on travel, recreation and tourism. ITRR serves as the research arm for Montana's tourism and recreation industry. Its overall mission is to provide information that will help the industry make informed decisions about planning, promotion and management. Thus, the research conducted is designed to assist private firms that provide services and facilities, public agencies and businesses that manage parks, recreation areas and other facilities used by tourists. Research priorities include Social and Environmental Impacts of Tourism, Regional and Community Planning and Development, Visitor Characteristics and Expenditures, Economic Impact of Nonresident Travel, Markets and Marketing Effectiveness, and Wildland Recreation.

Western States Tourism Policy Council
The mission of the Western States Tourism Policy Council is to foster and encourage a positive environment for travel and tourism by serving as a forum to identify, research, analyze, and advocate the travel and tourism related issues of public policy and opinion in the Western United States. Through educational and informative programs the Council assists in establishing a better understanding and consideration of the western tourism perspective.

Provided by the Community & Economic Development Laboratory, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Assessing and Developing Tourism Resources presents six steps to help communities inventory their tourism assets, evaluate their tourism assets, and set goals and priorities for tourism development.

Promoting Tourism in Rural America
Promoting Tourism in Rural America is composed of bibliographic citations with annotations, contact lists of individuals, organizations, and agencies that focus their efforts on tourism and rural development. A list of selected journals pertinent to the topic is included.

Illinois Tourism Network (ITN)
ITN is the primary source for in-depth and up-to-date information about the Illinois tourism industry. Developed for the Illinois Bureau of Tourism, this website provides a synopsis of important news about the Illinois tourism industry as well as national and international travel and industry trends. Industry Stats and Market Reports provide the basis for industry professionals to develop effective tourism marketing plans. A new section - eTools - was developed to enable tourism industry professionals to more effectively develop and promote Illinois tourism.

National Tour Association (NTA)
The National Tour Association is the premier association for travel professionals who have a keen interest in the packaged travel sector of the industry. The association, which is made up of nearly 4,000 members, brings together those who package travel – group as well as individual trips – with suppliers and destinations who represent the various components of a trip. NTA's goal is to help members to increase their bottom lines by promoting partnering and networking among members and providing key information members can use to move ahead of the competition.

National Extension Tourism Design Team
The National Extension Tourism (NET) Design Team was created in 1994 as one of four national Extension focuses under the Communities in Economic Transition Initiative.  The mission of the NET Design Team is to enhance Extension tourism programs nationally by providing relevant information, useful resources, and networking opportunities for Extension professionals and others working in the broad area of tourism and recreation.  NET sponsors the National Extension Tourism Conference.

The Arizona Hospitality Research and Resource Center
The mission of this center is to provide state, national and international clients with quality research focusing on the hospitality, tourism and foodservice industries. They provide learning opportunities to students in the science and art of quality research, provide customized on-line and on-site hospitality training sessions, and provide research, publications and professional preparation programs.
