What is the Ride Utah! program?
Ride Utah! is an equine extension program that has been developed by Utah State University to provide a trail ride experience for military personnel and an invited guest. Trail rides are held throughout the summer and fall ranging from Cache Valley to St. George to San Juan County. Equine trail rides have been shown to be relaxing, provide enjoyment, as well as improve relationships with friends and family. Ride Utah! consists of a 2–hour trail ride, lunch, and a professionally moderated group discussion focusing on military family issues. The program is hosted locally by county extension and collaborates with community members and military support groups. Results have shown that Ride Utah! is harnessing Utah’s natural beauty and resources into a successful program that is improving participants emotional wellbeing and strengthening communities.
