    Cherry Varieties

    Zone 5. Large firm round fruit with dark mahogany skin. Good flavored, juicy, red flesh. Fruit is very similar to Bing, but ripens about two weeks earlier. A vigorous, upright growing tree.

    Black Tartarian-
    Zone 5. A medium size cherry that ripens early. The fruit is purplish-black, and juicy. Very rich, semi-sweet flavor. The tree is vigorous and bears early. Used mostly as a pollinator for other varieties.

    Royal Ann-
    Zone 5. A large, crack-resistant, cherry which has golden yellow skin blushed with red. Crisp, clear flesh with a sweet-tart flavor. Good for eating, canning, and preserves.

    Zone 5. Exceptionally large fruit with dark burgundy skin, almost black when fully ripe. Firm, sweet, juicy, purplish flesh. Excellent for eating, canning, and preserves. Bing is the leading commercial sweet cherry of the western states. Will not pollinate Lambert or Royal Ann.

    Zone 5. A large crack resistant cherry. Skin color is golden yellow with a considerable amount of red blush. Very firm clear flesh with distinctive sweet flavor. Higher sugar and lower acid than Bing. A vigorous, hardy, productive variety. Excellent pollinator for most varieties.

    Utah Giant-
    Zone 5.  A western disease-resistant variety.  The fruit is larger and firmer than Bing or Lambert with outstanding flavor.  Flesh color is dark red and sweet.  Blooms with Bing.  Fruits set in large clusters and retains firmness, flavor and color throughout processing.

    Zone 5. Large, heart-shaped cherry with dark red, nearly black skin. Firm, sweet, dark red flesh with good flavor and texture. Fruit is of excellent quality and very similar to Lambert. Resistant to cracking. Tree bears at a young age. Self fertile. Good pollinator for all sweet cherries.

    Zone 5. A medium to large size cherry with dark, almost black skin. Firm, dark, semi-sweet flesh. Excellent pollinator for other sweet cherries. The tree is hardy and vigorous and is a very prolific bearer.

    Zone 5. Very large, firm, heart shaped cherry with black skin and very dark, sweet flesh. One of the best known commercial sweet cherries. Lambert is a hardy, vigorous grower. It ripens ten days after Bing. Will not cross pollinate with Bing or Royal Ann.

    Zone 5. Very large, dark purple to black cherry with firm, sweet, delicious, purplish flesh. Bears heavy crops. Crack Resistant. Self Fertile. Excellent pollinator for other sweet cherries. Sometimes referred to as the ‘Self Fertile Bing’ because fruit is very similar.
