CULTIVATION:
Soil Preparation: Soil used for planting raspberries should have high organic matter, good drainage and have a medium textured soil. For more information on soil preparation, click here.
Planting:
- Begin planting in early spring once soil has thawed.
- Purchase raspberry plants from a reputable nursery, to ensure the quality.
- Place the plants 2-3 feet apart and rows 8-10 feet apart.
Fertilization: Add additional nitrogen based fertilizer to enhance plants growth. For more information on fertilizing, click here.
Irrigation: Begin watering plants after soil has thawed completely and the grown has dried out in the top 2-3 inches. Use sprinkler irrigation or drip irrigation for best results. For more information on irrigation, click here.
COMMON PESTS AND DISEASES:
Raspberries can attract a variety of diseases due to bee’s frequent pollination. Some common diseases include: Mosaic, Bushy Dwarf, Leaf Curl and Tomato Ringspot.
