Russian Knapweed

Scientific Name: Centaurea repens

Distinguishing Features
• It grows 18 inches to 3 feet tall.
• Stems are erect and multi-branched, and covered with fine white hairs that gives them a blue-green color.
• Leaves are blue-green, toothed or lobed, and covered with fine hair.
• Flowers are small, ¼ to ½ inch, cone shaped, and usually pink, but can be white to purple. Small leaves (bracts) lay flat against the base of the flower head and are toped with a rounded papery margin.
• Dense colonies can form from widely spreading black bark-covered roots.
