Distinguishing Features

Size: Grows 10 to 24 inches, often smaller on very dry sites.
Flower: Many small white flowers (.12 to .25 inch) form flat-topped clusters atop the plant. Heart-shaped seed pods are tipped with a beak and contain 2 or 4 seeds.
Leaves: Grayish-green, arrowhead-shaped, that range from .75 to 3 inches long, and have a smooth to fine-toothed edge. The upper leaves have two lobes that clasp the stem. Basal leaves are attached with a short stalk. Leaves are covered with soft white hairs.
Other: First season is spent as a rosette. Multiple stems can arise from the base.
