Distinguishing Features

   Warning: stems contain milky sap that    may cause skin and eye irritation.
Size:
Grows up to 3 feet tall in dense patches.
Flower: Small, yellow-green, and enclosed by a pair of yellowish-green, heart-shaped leaves (bracts).
Leaves: Alternate and narrow, with smooth edges, .25 inch wide, and 1 to 4 inches long. Stems are hairless, pale green or blue green.
Other: Taproot can grow over 21 feet long.
