TRYAnnouncing TRY (Teens Reaching Youth) Training Retreat

Utah 4-H is teaching an overnight Teens Reaching Youth (TRY) Training Retreat at Thanksgiving Point on November 5-6. Teams will arrive on Friday night and stay through Saturday. This is open to 8-12th graders. Space is limited, application deadline for all TRY track s is October 1, 2010. Teams applying for State TRY training will be notified in mid October. At this retreat, teams and their coach of being trained in one of the following training:

  • Space Exploration: Learn how to help kids learn about the solar system through fun hands-on activities. 
  • Speak Out for Military Kids: Learn how to teach activities to help children understand what it means for a soldier's family when he or she is deployed.
  • WeDo Lego Robotics: Learn how to build and program robots using WeDo Lego robotics kits. Teams will use these simple robots to teach activities for youth in grades K-2.

Cost is $15 per person (includes food and supplies) 

A team is made up of 2-4 teens and an adult coach. If you sign up for Utah 4-H TRY Training and come as a team of 2-4 teens and an adult coach and commit to teach the curriculum to at least 15 youth, your TRY Team members (including adult coach). Teams can apply for a travel reimbursement. We will contact teams to let them know if accepted. Youth who come without a team are welcome to participate at the full cost of registration.
