WHAT IS GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE?
Everyone is familiar with the storm drain and pipe system so common to our communities. When water enters these drains, the pipes either combine it with your sewer or flush it downstream. Either way, rain water is a useful resource that you can use on your property. Green infrastructure uses plants, soil, and the natural hydrologic cycle to manage stormwater on-site, by retaining, treating, and using the water in your yard.
Green infrastructure is easy and affordable to implement. It will save you watering costs long term and in some cases beautify your property. It also reduces the amount of runoff that is flushed down the storm drain which pollutes our watersheds.
