Water quality education resources and equipment are located throughout the state for use by formal and non-formal educators, scout leaders, resource professionals and interested citizens. Resources and equipment are checked out on a first come, first served basis. Please see the map below to find resources avaliable in your county. If you have troubles finding what you need, please contact USU Water Quality Extension at (435) 797-2580.
Watershed / Surface Water Models:
Surface water models demonstrate how water moves through a watershed, the pollutants that can enter the water system from different land use activities and ways that people can help prevent water pollution. These models are great for all ages, and in a variety of settings (i.e., classrooms, camps, fairs).

Groundwater Models:
Groundwater models can be used to teach basic groundwater concepts including aquifers, groundwater flow, and water tables. This model also lets the user introduce pollutants into the watershed for a demonstration of underground flow and possible contamination of groundwater.

Monitoring Equipment:
Equipment is avaliable to complete simple monitoring procedures on a stream, lake or other waterbody. Test kits include dissolved oxygen, temperature, turbidity, nitrates, pH, and macroinvertebrate collection supplies. Instructions and background information is also provided.
