Utah County Master Gardener Program
The Master Gardener program will begin Thursday, January 29, 2015. Those taking the afternoon class will meet from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Utah County Complex in Provo and those in the evening class meet from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Thanksgiving Point Garden Visitor's Center. Class size is limited, so registration is First Come, First Served.
Master Gardener Certification requires completing 40 hours of volunteer time within 12 months after the class starts and a minimum of 80% attendance at classes and labs.
Teachers are selected from specialists at Utah State University and Extension horticulturists from around the state.
Classes include: Introduction to Soils, Fertilizers, Irrigation, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Control (Lab), Diagnosing Plant Problems (Lab), Growing Vegetables, Tree Fruits, Small Fruits, Herbaceous Plants: Annuals & Perennials, Pruning Trees & Shrubs, Trees & Shrubs for Utah, Turfgrass Management, Plant Propagation (Lab), Pesticides, Interior Plants.
The cost for the program is $200.
