Local Government Sustainability Guides Available for Free

The University of Wisconsin, with funding from Focus on Energy, has launched two guides/toolkits for local governments to use in working towards sustainability. The guides are intended to give practical tools for making each function of local government more cost-effective and more supportive of human and environmental health and well-being.  Toward a Sustainable Community: A Toolkit for Local Government, Volume 1 includes an overview of sustainability and chapters on energy, buildings, transportation/mobility, procurement, investments, and human resources. Toward a Sustainable Community: A Toolkit for Local Government, Volume 2 includes an overview of sustainability and chapters on climate change, air quality, land use, water, land and water conservation, parks and recreation, cemeteries, economic localization, local food systems, and solid waste.

Both volumes are free to download and can be found by clicking the links above.
