Master Gardener Volunteer Recognition 2007 

December 13th, 2007 was the annual Master Gardener Awards Recognition dinner held at Wheeler Farm.   This annual event is held in appreciation of the contribution that each of the over 400 Master Gardener's have given in volunteer service.  Marilyn Albertson, Utah State University Extension Salt Lake County Director, Virginia Lee, from the Office of Volunteer Program Services, Larry Sagers, the State Master Gardener Coordinator and Mayor Peter Corroon were each in attendance in appreciation of the Master Gardener program and the service you give to our community. 

After a wonderfully delicious dinner Maggie Shao with the assistance of Stephen LeCheminant, the President of the Salt Lake Master Gardener Association presented the awards to this year’s recipients.

The Master Gardener Program began in the early 1970s at Washington State University.  The first Master Gardener Program began in Utah in the early 1980s.  There are now Master Gardener Programs in 48 states and Canada.
