Advanced Master Gardener

One of the characteristics of Master Gardeners is they love to learn.  The Advanced Master Gardener program is an opportunity to continue and broaden their own horticultural knowledge as well as to advance the Master Gardener program.  This program is open to certified Master Gardeners who are active and in good standing.  Currently the program consists of four modules or semesters.  Each module focuses on different topics in greater depth than the basic Master Gardener Training.  The requirements for the Advanced Master Gardener Trainining includes:

  • attendance of 20 hours of classroom lectures
  • attendance at four out of seven practical labs held throughout the spring and summer
  • 20 hours of additional volunteer hours dedicated to an educational project

In 2007, the Advanced Master Gardener Training focuses on Fruits, Vegetables and a side of Turfgrass.  One module is offered every year.  The other modules are:  Herbaceous Ornamentals, Woody Plants, and Landscape Design and Maintenance.  The title of Advanced Master Gardener is acheived when all four modules have been successfully completed.
