Japanese Anemone      Anemone x hybrida

Fall blooming Japanese Anemones, also called Windflowers,  are long-lived perennials.  In the spring these plants form low growing clumps of foliage that produce graceful arching stems 2' to 4' tall that produce flowers that bloom in the fall.    Anemones come in a variety of colors from white, pale pink, dark pink to a rosy red color.   These plants like part shade and moist soil, well-drained soil.    They can grow quite large, up to 5' in height and they can spread up to 3' across so be sure to give them plenty of room.
