Description:

Plate 917X. Williamson Ranch 1952 – 2005 Viewed east from the start of the Williamson Ranch Parker Three-Step Transect on upper Red Creek above Paragonah, Utah. Snowberry and silver sage have increased, while grasses have declined. The aspen stand on top of the nearest ridge has not regenerated and most of the mature trees have died. The aspen clone on the right, however, regenerated 30 years ago when mule deer numbers were low but not since due to repeated herbivory (Kay and Bartos 2000). Conifers have increased in the distance. The area is grazed by cattle, deer, and elk.
