Description:

Plate 916X. Williamson Ranch 1952 – 2005 Viewed southwest from the start of the Williamson Ranch Parker Three-Step Transect on upper Red Creek above Paragonah, Utah. The old log cabin has been removed. Willows appear to have increased above USFS road 076. Snowberry and silver sage have increased in the foreground, while grasses have declined. Spruce, white fir, and Douglas fir have increased. Some aspen stands regenerated about 30 years ago when mule deer numbers were low, but not since due to repeated herbivory (Kay and Bartos 2000). The area is grazed by cattle, deer, and elk.
