Plate 1213X. Virgin River 1963 – 2006 Viewed southwest across the Virgin River in Zion National Park at the junction of Utah Highway 9 and the Zion Canyon Road. A new foot-bridge has been built over Pine Creek (photo lower-left) and some of the park buildings have been removed. Cottonwoods around the buildings have started to die, as the trees are apparently no longer watered. Pinyon and juniper now block the original camera station, so the retake was made from the nearest open area. The road up Zion Canyon has recently been repaved.
