Virgin River

Description:

Plate 1226X. Virgin River 1929 – 2006 Viewed southeast across the Virgin River to Grafton, Utah south of Zion National Park. Prior to the 1929 photo, much of the town had been washed away by the river. Today, however, the river channel has stabilized due to the growth of woody riparian vegetation - - cottonwoods, willows, tamarisk, and Russian olive.
