Plate 939X. Upper Strawberry Valley 1951 – 2005 Viewed southwest in upper Strawberry Valley. The Forest Service road has been realigned. Spruce, white fir, and ponderosa pine have increased, while aspen has declined. Although the area was actively being grazed by cattle in 2005, it was not as heavily utilized as in 1951. The most common grasses are needle and thread and smooth brome, while the most common shrubs are green and rubber rabbitbrush.
