Plate 880X. Strawberry Creek 1933 – 2005 Viewed north-northwest from the old sawmill on Strawberry Creek - - see Plate 879x. The original image is slightly out-of-focus. The entire area is private property, and the distant hillsides are now a maze of roads and summer homes. Conifers, primarily ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, white fir, and spruce, have increased, while aspen has declined. With the build-up of forest fuels, it is only a matter of time until a high-intensity crown fire sweeps the area, destroying property and possibly life.
