Sevenmile Valley

1930

2000

Description:

Plate 184. SEVENMILE VALLEY 1930-2000 This repeat photoset is similar to Plates 25 and 26, but the view is more to the west. The subirrigated meadow in the foreground was more heavily grazed during 2000 than in the original. Silver sage in the rest of the valley, however, appears unchanged. On the distant hillsides, conifers have increased markedly, while aspen has declined, as would be expected in the absence of fire. Many of those conifers are now being killed by insects and disease.
