Plate 15X. Scout Lake 1935-2002 Viewed north-northeast across Scout Lake on the eastside of Boulder Mountain. Due to forest in-growth, the original camera station could not be reoccupied, so the retake was taken from the lake shore. As in the other photos of Scout Lake (Plates 13x and 14x), the lake level has fallen approximately 4 feet because of the prolonged drought. In addition, aspen has declined on the far hillside, while conifers, primarily spruce, have increased. Moreover, forage production has declined as conifers have replaced aspen (Kay 2003).
