Salina Creek

1923

1996

Description:

Plate 39. SALINA CREEK: 1923 - 1996 The original photo point was destroyed by Interstate Highway I-70 construction, as has the hillside on the right in the 1923 photo. Salina Creek has been channelized and is hidden from view by I-70 fill in the 1996 photo. Pinyon (Pinus edulis) and juniper (Juniperus sp.) appear to have increased on the remaining area, but not to any great extent since the canyon walls are harsh sites for plant establishment and growth.
