Salina Canyon Dam

1934

2000

Description:

Plate 223. SALINA CANYON DAM 1934-2000 Viewed south across Salina Creek and up Soldier Canyon. The dam was built during the early 1930’s to trap silt from the floods that were coming down Salina and Soldier Canyons. In that, the dam was successful and woody riparian vegetation has increased dramatically. There has been little apparent change in pinyon-juniper on the dry hillsides.
