Plate 747X. Racer Canyon 1963 – 2004 The Forest Service established four Parker Three-Step Transects and two pellet group transects inside and outside the three-part exclosure at the head of Racer Canyon in 1963 to monitor range conditions. Pinyon, juniper, and mountain brush increased on all transects but the entire area was overrun by a high-intensity wildfire one week before the original photographs were repeated. Plate 747x is viewed southeast at the start of the second Parker Three-Step Transect, which is located outside the exclosure.
