Plate 1253X. Ponderosa Canyon 1966 – 2006 Viewed southeast across the South Fork of Ponderosa Canyon in Bryce Canyon National Park. The balanced rock in the foreground has fallen. Pinyon, juniper, conifers, and mountain brush species have increased. Many of the older spruce, though, have recently been killed by insects and disease.
