Pleasant Creek Meadow

1951

2002

Description:

Plate 79X. Pleasant Creek Meadow 1951-2002 Viewed west-southwest across Pleasant Creek Meadow on the Aquarius Plateau (a.k.a. Boulder Top). The stream was dry in 2002 due to the extended drought. The meadow was also heavily grazed by cattle in 2002, a few of which are visible in the retake. Note how little the streams banks have changed since the original photo. Conifers, primarily spruce, have increased despite the fact that much of the area was selectively logged in the past - - judging by the old stumps that are present. There are fewer standing dead trees today than there were in 1951.
