Description:

Plate 43. LOWER SALINA CANYON: 1923 - 1996 NOTE: Construction of Interstate Highway I-70 has changed much of the foreground and Salina Creek has been moved and channelized. The vegetation on the south-facing hillsides has changed very little since 1923 except for a slight increase in pinyon (Pinus edulis) and juniper (Juniperus sp.). Along the canyon bottom, greasewood (Sarcobatus vermiculatus) appears to have increased since 1923.
