Lookout Point

2002

Description:

Plate 36X. Lookout Point 1964-2002 Viewed southeast from Lookout Point on the southern flank of Boulder Mountain. Plates 36x and 37x form a panorama. Snowberry appears to have increased. Aspen regenerated about 25 years ago when mule deer numbers were low (Kay and Bartos 2000). The area was heavily grazed by cattle in 2002. Note the prescribed burns that have occurred at lower elevation in the pinyon-juniper zone (photo left-center). The boulders in the foreground have been moved. This view is from the old gravel viewpoint, not the new paved parking area.
