Lakeside Lodge

1996

Description:

Plate 11. LAKESIDE LODGE: 1938 - 1996 Aspen (Populus tremuloides) on the southeast facing hillside above the lodge has increase in height and some clones have expanded in size. The tall dark-colored shrubs on the hillside are curlleaf mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus ledifolius) which have also increased in height and numbers, as would be expected in the absence of fire. Conifers have grown in height and abundance as well, especially behind the main lodge where they apparently were planted. The sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) on the hillside shows little sign of change except where it has been replaced by other types of vegetation. Sagebrush is still present in the foreground except where disturbed aby highway construction.
