Johnson Wash

1939

2004

Description:

Plate 523X. Johnson Wash 1939 – 2004 Viewed north across one of the upper branches of Johnson Wash to the Pink Cliffs. This area has not been treated or reseeded, most likely due to the exposed lava. The county road has been realigned. Sagebrush appears largely unchanged except there was more grass cover, primarily needle and thread and Indian rice grass, in 2004 despite the extended drought. Pinyon and juniper have increased in the distance. Johnson Wash appears more heavily vegetated today than it did in earlier times.
