Description:

Plate 301. INDIAN PEAK PAVANT MOUNTAINS 1965-2000 Viewed north to Indian Peak (9,390 ft) from USFS Road 096. Much of the area in the original photo had been treated with a Dixie harrow to eliminate sagebrush, but sagebrush has since reinvaded the site. Conifers have increased but aspen has failed to regenerate due to excessive browsing. Curlleaf mountain mahogany is present on the top of Indian Peak, while the other tall dark-colored shrubs are Utah serviceberry. Snowberry and currant are also present. Note that the original photograph was printed in reverse - - In the final publication this will be corrected by making a copy negative and reprinting that photo.
