Haycock Creek

Description:

Plate 1043X. Haycock Creek 1957 – 2005 Viewed southeast along line one of the Haycock Creek Parker Three-Step Transect north of Panguitch Lake. The photopoint is located on the upland area between Ipson Creek on the west and Haycock Creek on the east. Cooper Knoll (9,015 ft.) is on the skyline. The area was root-plowed and reseeded to crested wheatgrass a few years before the original image was made. Today the seeding has been invaded by three-tipped sage with mountain big sage on the hillsides. An exclosure has been built to the east of the transect, and sagebrush has also invaded that ungrazed site. Juniper and ponderosa pine have increased in the distance, while aspen has declined - - except on the rocky hillside. A new power line has been built to service the growing summer home community at Beaver Dam on Ipson Creek. Native needle and thread is also present.
