Plate 689X. Grass Valley 1948 – 2004 Viewed northwest across Grass Valley. The area was root-plowed and reseeded with crested wheatgrass in 1944 to improve range conditions, but today the site is being reinvaded by mountain big sage. Pinyon and juniper have increased in the distance.
