Edmunds Hole Exclosure

2003

Description:

Plate 366X. Edmunds Hole Exclosure 1958 - 2003 Viewed west-southwest at the northeast corner of the livestock exclosure in Edmunds Hole on the eastside of Boulder Mountain. The original image was made shortly after the exclosure was built by the Forest Service. Shrubs have increased, especially inside the exclosure. This includes snowberry, rubber rabbitbrush, and green rabbitbrush. Oakbrush and ponderosa pine have increased on the far hillside - - see Plate 367x. This area is normally grazed by cattle, as there is a spring near the exclosure. Cattle had not grazed this area in 2003, however, when the site was revisited. The area is also used by elk and mule deer, which have acces to the exclosure by jumping the low fence. Needle and thread is the most common grass both inside and outside the exclosure.
