Description:

Plate 1255X. East Creek 1935 – 2006 Viewed southwest down the North Fork of East Creek in Bryce Canyon National Park. The early image was taken shortly after the area has been graded, reseeded, and check dams installed to combat erosion. The road has been realigned, widened, and paved. Shrubs include bitterbrush, black sage, and rubber rabbitbrush. Ponderosa pine has increased. The Park Service recently ran a light surface fire through the pine stand south of the road. The double-trunked ponderosa pine across the road has died but is still standing.
