East Creek

Description:

Plate 303X. East Creek 1950 - 2003 Viewed northeast at the mouth of East Creek on the Paunsaugunt Plateau. The original photograph was taken to document the logging that had occurred on the far hillside in 1946 - - see Plate 304x. Nevertheless, ponderosa pine and juniper have increased. The low-growing shrubs are mostly mountain big sage. The streambanks appear more heavily vegetated today than they did in earlier times. The fence in the foreground has been removed. The disturbed area in the lower part of the photo is the old roadway that has since been realigned. This area had not been grazed by livestock in 2003 when the site was revisited.
