Dairy Canyon Sawmill

1912

2005

Description:

Plate 890X. Dairy Canyon Sawmill 1912 – 2005 Viewed northwest up Dairy Canyon to the old water-powered sawmill - - note the flume to the actual mill. Nothing remains of the old mill except a dense growth of cottonwoods, willows, and river birch. The original camera station was on the western wall of Stout Canyon, but that view is now blocked by a thick growth of conifers. Thus, the retake was made from a semi-open area on the valley floor. Ponderosa pine, pinyon, juniper, and woody riparian vegetation have all increased.
