Blue Spring

1938

2005

Description:

Plate 1000X. Blue Spring 1938 – 2005 Viewed east-southeast to Blue Spring southwest of Panguitch Lake. The area around the spring was very heavily grazed in 1938. Subsequently, beaver cut most of the aspen near the spring (see Plate 1001x), but repeated browsing eliminated any aspen sucker height growth, eventually killing much of the clone. The spring is now fenced to exclude livestock, but aspen has not returned except for a few saplings on the far edge of the pond. Conifers have increased.
