Description:

Plate 183X. Black Canyon 1943 - 2003 Viewed east-northeast at the head of Black Canyon. The East Fork of the Sevier River flows at the base of the distant hillside, but is hidden from view. Black sage appears to have declined while grasses have increased, primarily needle and thread and Indian rice-grass, despite the recent drought. Pinyon and juniper have increased. These lands are administered by BLM.
