Plate 497X. Big Dry Valley 1948 – 2004 Viewed west along the northern edge of Big Dry Valley - - this area is just east of Kodachrome State Park. Pinyon and juniper have increased except where a small fire killed some trees in the left-center of the photograph. Most of the grass is native needle and thread. The scattered shrubs are primarily Wyoming big sage and four-wing saltbrush.
